INVOLVMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The President's Scholarship Program could not function without the help of countless Georgia Tech alumni living in all areas of the country. They aid in recruiting potential Scholars from high schools in their regions and, by serving on the PS Program's Regional Committees and participating in PS Weekend, play an important part in the process of interviewing and selecting new President's Scholars.
Opportunities
Recruiting Applicants
Alumni are very effective in identifying potential President's Scholars in their area and encouraging them to get their Georgia Tech applications submitted by the October 31 deadline. Many alumni are able to visit the guidance offices of their local high schools. In addition, many cities have local alumni clubs that work hard in recruiting first-rate students for Georgia Tech. If you know of a prospective student, contact the President's Scholarship Program Office with their name and address, and they will receive information and an application to Georgia Tech.
Interviewing Semifinalists in the PS Process
Tech alumni, through the PS Program's Regional Committees, interview those applicants who were chosen as semifinalists. Semifinalists are selected from those students who applied to Georgia Tech by October 31 of their senior year on the basis of high school grades, leadership and activity records, personal statements, and standardized test scores. Contact the regional coordinator in your area to get involved.
Selecting the New Scholars
Alumni also aid in interviewing the students selected as finalists when they come to Tech to participate in PS Weekend in the spring. The finalists are the top semifinalists based on the entire application process.
